Workplace Safety Campaign Translated into 13 Languages

A new work safety campaign will be broadcast in 13 languages to make sure it reaches Marrickville’s large ethnic and Indigenous workforce.
Member for Marrickville, Carmel Tebbutt said the NSW Government’s ‘Homecomings’ Advertising Campaign had been translated into more than double the languages than previous campaigns.
“WorkCover’s radio and press advertising messages and media releases will target workers from the African, Arabic, Chinese, Greek, Indian, Indonesian, Italian, Pakistani, Spanish, Sri Lankan, Turkish, Vietnamese and Indigenous communities in their own languages,” Ms Tebbutt said.

NSW Government Approves River Red Gums Recommendations

In response to the Natural Resources Commission’s (NRC) December 2009 report River Red Gums the NSW Government has approved the establishment of more than 107,000 hectares (ha) of River Red Gum protected areas in the Riverina with a support package of up to $80 million for effected timber industry workers and regional communities.

A Big ‘Thank You’ for RPA Volunteers

Thanks to our RPA VolunteersMember for Marrickville and Minister for Health Carmel Tebbutt today thanked volunteers who donated their time at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPA) this year, joining them for a special lunch as part of NSW Health’s Volunteer Appreciation Day (February 15).
Ms Tebbutt, staff from the Sydney South West Area Health Service and RPA Executive Director Ken Cahill attended the event to show appreciation to the hospital’s 90 volunteers.
“The RPA volunteers make a wonderful contribution to the hospital, providing support and companionship to elderly and isolated patients, delivering flowers, working in the hospital archives and raising funds,” Ms Tebbutt said.

Light Rail to be Extended to Dulwich Hill

Deputy Premier and State Member for Marrickville announced our community will benefit from a $500 million expansion of light rail – including a new CBD circuit and an extension of light rail from Lilyfield to Dulwich Hill.

The new 5.6 kilometre inner-west route stretches from the existing terminus at Lilyfield to Wardell Road Junction at Dulwich Hill.

This is more than double the distance of the existing light rail in Sydney – making the route from Dulwich Hill to Circular Quay.

Ms Tebbutt said the Government would move as quickly as possible to see work commence on the new line...
